Irish Setter boots
SETTER = INNOVATION What you may not always see is the technology built into every Irish Setter boot. Whether for hunting or working, innovation is woven deep into the fabric of these boots. All to provide hunters and workers what they need in the field - wherever that may be.
Started in 1915 in the small Indiana community of Berne as The Berne Overall & Shirt Company, we wanted to provide the mid-western farmer with quality workwear that was durable and most importantly, affordable. With a pride and work ethic that could only be found in America, we did just that. To keep pace with this changing landscape, Berne Apparel has entered the next era just 60 miles north of our old stomping grounds. New Haven, Indiana is Berne Apparel's new landscape but Berne Apparel is still home to quality, durable, and affordable work wear.
When you’ve been around as long as we have, you’re bound to see new trends, new technology, new everything. Yet here we are, pretty much the same as we were a hundred years ago. We’re all for innovation, sure, but we also know what works for us. We believe in what we do and still wake up every morning excited to do it. So let the wheels of progress clamor onward in pursuit of perfection. We found it a century ago. And when you get it right the first time, everything else is details. Lucky for us, passion and pride never go out of style.
To build the most protective, most comfortable, most reliable boots possible. So, we created the Original Muck Boot Company, whose sole reason for being is to create footwear that can withstand the harshest conditions.

In 2004, we founded our first store, BDU.com. After a few crazy successful years and handfuls of happy customers, we opened WorkBoots.com. Since then, we've been outfitting workers in shoes that can handle the toughest of tasks and responsibilities. We know how hard you work from punch-in to punch-out. Isn't it time for your boots to start pulling their weight?
That’s been our story for quite some time—since 1914 to be exact. And while a lot has changed over the last century, much about who we are has stayed the same. We’re still a family-owned company under the leadership of a fourth generation descendent of our founder, Frances Henry Fries. We’re also still making circular knit and thermal underwear products, just as we always have. Today, those same products are designed, knit, finished, and cut in North Carolina and sewn in Mexico.
